Diagnostic screening tampon wins TIME Best Invention for 2024

An at-home Diagnostic Tampon that screens for STIs and HPV has been named a TIME Best Invention for 2024.
The pioneering tampon created by Daye utilises cutting-edge PCR testing technology to allow at-home screening of vaginal microbiomes, and tests for STIs and HPV.
Used just like a normal tampon, Daye’s first-of-a-kind Diagnostic Tampon collects more vaginal fluid than a standard swab and covers a larger surface area, making it more accurate than a swab and more comfortable than a speculum.
Daye gained headlines at its launch as one of the few organic menstrual product companies and for its unique CBD tampons that help with menstrual cramps.
Valentina Milanova, Founder of Daye, commented: “To think that a few years ago, menstrual health products, often referred to as feminine hygiene, used to be deeply stigmatised. Now, Daye’s smart tampon is featured alongside the world’s largest computer chip, a humanoid robot joining the workforce, and a bioluminescent houseplant.
“This award will help us raise awareness for our mission to eliminate the gender health gap. With the Diagnostic Tampon, we’re here to prevent and proactively address gynae health concerns. The Day(e) has come to end the era of “just deal with it”.”
The tampon is made with 100 per cent organic, ethically sourced materials and comes with a sustainable bio-based applicator, which enables patients to reach their cervix without a speculum.
As part of the service, Daye provides personalised aftercare, including prescription treatments and consultations with gynae health specialists.

Women’s Health Innovation Summit opens submissions for 2026 Innovation Showcase

The Women’s Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) has announced that submissions are open for the 2026 Innovation Showcase, giving early and growth-stage start-ups the chance to present their solutions to the most influential audience in women’s health.
Taking place October 13–15 at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett, Massachusetts, WHIS brings together more than 1,000 decision-makers from across the women’s health ecosystem — investors, payers, health systems, pharma leaders, and employers — all under one roof.
Selected companies will pitch live on stage to an audience with the funding, expertise, and connections to accelerate their growth.
Past participants have walked away with investor introductions, commercial partnerships, and clinical collaborations that moved from conversation to contract.
WHIS is where the women’s health ecosystem comes together to get deals done,” said Sarah Rowlands, marketing director.
“The Innovation Showcase puts promising start ups directly in front of the people who can take them to the next level.”
The showcase sits at the heart of a three-day programme spanning digital health, therapeutics, diagnostics, and consumer health.
Previous attendees have included representatives from Mayo Clinic, CVS Health, Eli Lilly, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Alumni Ventures, Muse Capital, and Maverick Ventures, among hundreds of others.
Applications are open now. Start-ups can submit at
