Smart menstrual cup firm Emm secures US$9m

Bristol-based femtech firm Emm has raised US$9m in seed funding for its smart menstrual cup that tracks and analyses the menstrual cycle.
Established in 2020 by Jenny Button, Emm is developing the world’s first smart menstrual cup. The device combines medical-grade silicone with integrated biosensors to measure menstrual flow, cup usage and cycle patterns.
Data are automatically collected by the cup and synced to a connected app via a charging case, enabling users to track daily flow rates, total period volume and cycle regularity. The system provides personalised insights over time to help users understand menstrual health, optimise cup use and identify changes in their cycle.
The cup is designed for all-day comfort and leak protection, with data transmission only when the device is outside the body and connected to the charging case.
Emm will use the funding to accelerate clinical development, strengthen its data infrastructure and bring the smart menstrual cup and app to consumers in 2026. The investment will also support further research, product development and insights into reproductive and menstrual health.
The seed round was led by Lunar Ventures with participation from Labcorp Venture Fund, Tiny Supercomputer Investment Company, Blue Lion, Alumni Ventures and angel investors Amar Shah, Vivek Garipalli and Harpreet Rai.
“This moment belongs not only to our team and investors, but to everyone who has supported and believed in our mission. To our community – thank you. Your trust and advocacy continue to shape everything we build. We’ll keep pushing, learning and building, because the world is ready for smarter, better, more personalised menstrual care – and we’re proud to lead the way,” Emm’s team commented on LinkedIn.”
