The National Menopause Foundation has launched a new tool to support women on their menopause journey.

The Menopause Symptom Checklist is comprised of a broad range of both physical and psychological changes that women might experience during perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause.

Menopausal symptoms can begin months or even years before periods stop and can last for years after. Although most women will have symptoms, they tend to experience them differently.

With many feeling unaware of the signs of menopause, experts say it can be helpful to understand some of the most common symptoms and how they might affect women.

The National Menopause Foundation’s Menopause Symptom Checklist is a free educational resource tool that helps women share their data with healthcare providers and decide how to best address their health needs during menopause.

The tool aims to help users learn, find support and track more than 30 menopausal symptoms, increasing the public awareness, knowledge and positive perception of the menopause.

“Many people know that hot flashes are a symptom of menopause, but most don’t know that there are more than 30 symptoms that a woman might experience during the menopausal transition,” explains Claire Gill, founder of The National Menopause Foundation.

“Thankfully, most women won’t experience all of the symptoms, but it’s very common for women to experience several.

“If you don’t know what to expect, it’s hard to be prepared for the changes that can occur during this normal stage of life.”
