The US virtual menopause clinic Gennev has partnered with the mental health provider LifeStance Health to help women navigate menopause.

The partnership aims to provide Gennev’s patients with referrals to LifeStance’s team of psychiatric and psychotherapy clinicians, delivering mental healthcare to women both in-person and online.

In the US, an estimated 6,000 women reach menopause daily, with more than two million entering the life stage every year.

During perimenopause and menopause, women may experience impacts to their emotional health, including new or increased symptoms of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions.

“Many women struggle with behavioural health symptoms during menopause, but we shouldn’t accept that as the status quo,” says Dr Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su, chief medical officer at Gennev.

“Research shows that proactively addressing behavioural health conditions during menopause reduces the likelihood of a patient requiring crisis care.

“The results are improved quality of life and, ideally, a reduction of downstream behavioural health costs.”

As part of its latest partnership, Gennev’s clinicians will work closely with LifeStance to support women with treatment recommendations.

Jill Angelo, Gennev CEO, said: “Gennev is committed to delivering the most comprehensive menopause care for women, and our partnership with LifeStance will empower them to take control of their physical and emotional health needs.”

Dr Anisha Patel-Dunn, chief medical officer at LifeStance, said: “LifeStance is focused on continuing to integrate the delivery of physical and mental healthcare to address the comprehensive needs of patients, improve outcomes, increase satisfaction and advance more efficient use of healthcare resources.

“We look forward to partnering with Gennev and bringing LifeStance’s trusted, affordable and personalised mental healthcare to their patients, ensuring they receive integrated treatment that specifically addresses their unique concerns during menopause.

“By collaborating with their clinicians, we can more effectively care for the whole-person health of women experiencing menopause.
