Startek to launch postpartum mental health support app

The customer experience solutions provider Startek has teamed up with Curio Digital Therapeutics to offer postpartum mental health support for its US-based associates.

MamaLift, an app focused on helping women to manage the symptoms associated with the postpartum period, aims to help Startek’s associates with reducing the risk of experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety following delivers.

According to CDC data, postpartum depression affects as many as one in eight mothers in the US, with 50 per cent of women suffering from postpartum depression going undiagnosed.

Startek’s programme is part of its maternity benefits, aimed at supporting new mothers and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.

The company says that by participating in daily learnings and tracking their mood, sleep and activities, its team members will benefit from the delivery of relevant digitised therapy content through a variety of formats including augmented reality, meditations and interactive exercises.

“This International Women’s Day, we recognise the role that technology can play in creating a more equitable workplace by supporting working mothers to navigate an extremely important time in their lives,” said SM Gupta, chief people officer at Startek.

“Sadly, postpartum depression can lead women to leave the workplace.

“By introducing the Curio platform we are able to ensure that new mothers at Startek have easy access to the personalised and flexible postpartum mental health programmes they need to thrive both at home and in their professional lives.”

Shailja Dixit, CEO at Curio Digital Therapeutics, said: “We are delighted to bring the MamaLift programme to Startek employees through this partnership.

“Our mission at Curio is to provide every woman with on-demand access to the digital tools that they need to support and empower themselves, delivered at the time when they most need it.

“MamaLift is designed to help women through clinically validated modules during the critical time of pregnancy and following delivery, supporting them and easing their return to work.”
