Google has partnered with Flo Health to integrate menstrual health data into Google Health and develop future women’s health wearables.

Flo users will be able to sync their cycle data with the Google Health app from early next year.

The companies also plan to develop hardware combining Flo’s women’s health insights and algorithms with Google’s wearable technology and sensors.

Further details of the planned devices have not been disclosed.

Data sharing between Flo and Google Health will be opt-in, requiring separate permission for each type of data and purpose.

Google said users can withdraw permission at any time. Flo data will not be used for advertising, sold or shared with other apps or developers.

For users who opt in, information from Flo will appear alongside other health metrics in Google Health, while Google Health data will also be available in Flo.

Flo data will also be available to Google Health Coach for Google Health Premium subscribers, allowing the service to provide more personalised guidance by considering menstrual cycle information alongside sleep, activity, daily readiness and recovery data.

Google said the long-term partnership will also include plans to launch research initiatives into underserved areas of menstrual health.
