DEPH Labs appoints blockchain and privacy veteran Lisa Loud as CEO

Precision health company DEPH Labs has appointed Lisa Loud as chief executive, naming data privacy and consumer access as priorities for its next phase of growth.

Loud brings decades of experience across technology, financial services, blockchain and digital privacy, with senior roles at Apple, PayPal, BitMEX, ShapeShift and Secret Network.

Her appointment follows the launch of what DEPH Labs describes as the world’s first epigenetic biological age platform built entirely on single-sex data.

The company argues that conventional models, which combine male and female data, can overlook important differences in how men and women age.

“DNA gives us an incredible foundation, but it doesn’t tell the whole story of where someone is in their health journey,” said Loud.

“With our single-sex epigenetic testing, we can help people understand how their biology is changing and whether the decisions they’re making are actually improving their health.”

The technology is offered through UMMU, designed around female biology, and ENGNE, which focuses on men’s health, performance and longevity.

Both use at-home saliva tests and epigenetic analysis to show users how genetics, lifestyle and environment influence their biological ageing.

Unlike traditional genetic testing, which gives a largely fixed picture of inherited traits, epigenetic testing can track how biological markers change over time.

Combined with blood tests and AI-powered analysis, the company says this lets users assess whether changes to diet, exercise or sleep are linked to tangible improvements.

Loud said data control would be a defining theme of her tenure.

“Privacy and usability shouldn’t be mutually exclusive,” she said.

“We want to give individuals granular control through programmable consent, allowing them to decide exactly how their information is used and change those permissions whenever they want.”

Loud will draw on her time at Secret Network, where she worked with technologies designed to protect sensitive information without compromising usability.

DEPH Labs is pursuing a privacy-first approach that includes encrypted storage and permission-based access, so individuals can benefit from personalised services and scientific research without giving up control of their data.

Loud expects AI to play a growing role in helping researchers and clinicians analyse complex biological data.

She stressed, however, that humans must remain involved, as AI largely draws on historical information and established patterns rather than replacing human creativity, judgement and expertise.

Under her leadership, DEPH Labs will focus on expanding access to its platforms, developing more personalised health insights and advancing privacy-conscious, AI-powered healthcare.

The company’s broader aim is to move beyond one-size-fits-all recommendations.
