UNICEF and Sweden offer up to US$100,000 in funding for femtech startups

Femtech companies developing technology to improve the health and wellbeing of girls and women could secure up to US$100,000 in funding, a year of expert technical support and access to UNICEF’s global network through a new initiative backed by Sweden and UNICEF.
Applicants to the UNICEF FemTech Ventures programme must be registered in a UNICEF programme country, have a functional prototype and commit to open-source licensing and principles. They must also demonstrate that their solution has the potential to scale.
The programme is particularly interested in open-source solutions using frontier technologies, including artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Digital health platforms, data-driven tools and other technology-enabled approaches may also be eligible if they meet the programme requirements.
Women-led startups and founders under the age of 35 are particularly encouraged to apply.
Selected companies can receive up to US$100,000 to develop their solutions.
The technical mentorship and access to UNICEF’s global network are intended to help participants strengthen their technology and move towards wider adoption.
The opportunity is aimed at companies with an existing functional prototype rather than individuals seeking funding for an undeveloped idea.
