Movano Health launches smart health tracking ring for women

The California-based company Movano Health has officially launched its smart health tracking ring for women.

According to the developers, Evie is an intelligent device that provides users with medical grade health data translated into “personalised insights” on an app.

Wearable technology has been expanding significantly. According to GlobalData, the wearable tech industry was worth US$99.5b in 2022 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 14 per cent between 2022 and 2030.

The Evie ring, Movano claims, is built using research that uncovers the differences between men’s and women’s biomarkers as well as interviews with more than 1,000 women about their health and wellness needs. It includes features such as personalisation, AI-based insights and what the company describes as real-time status tracking.

The device, which comes with a portable charging case, aims to combine health and wellness metrics to give women a full picture of their health, monitoring and tracking resting heart rate, heart rate variability, SpO2, respiration rate, skin temperature variability, period and ovulation, menstrual symptoms as well as activity and mood.

“With Evie, we are bringing together medical grade biometric data and insights in a comfortable and contemporary wearable that allows women to take ownership of their unique health journey,” explained Dr John Mastrototaro, CEO of Movano Health.

The product includes a spot check feature enabling users to measure their heart rate and blood oxygen levels at any time, day or night. This, Mastrototaro argues, can help users who aren’t feeling well determine whether to consult with their healthcare providers.

The Evie Ring is available exclusively online in gold, rose gold, and silver finishes and is available in sizes 5-11. It currently sells for US$269 with no subscription fees.
