Discover the latest developments in femtech investment

Femtech World explores the latest investment developments in female health.
Major boost for women’s health research in Wales, UK
The Women’s Health Research Wales centre for excellence will benefit from a £3m investment from Health and Care Research Wales, supported by the Welsh Government, on top of £750,000 available for other dedicated women’s health research projects.
The funding boost represents a significant commitment to address health inequalities and shape future services for women, as set out in the women’s health plan for Wales.
The Women’s Health Network, part of the NHS Executive, will now work with Health and Care Research Wales and the academic community to improve the women specific health evidence available in Wales.
Australia to see AUD$573m investment in women’s health
Australia will see a huge funding boost to the tune of AUD$57m to support women’s health.
The funding will enable improved Medicare payments and subsidies for contraceptive pills and menopause treatments through the country’s pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS). The move marks the first PBS listing for new oral contraceptive pills in more than 30 years, and the first PBS listing for new menopausal hormone therapies in over 20 years.
Additionally, the funding will see the opening of 11 new clinics for the treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain.
The five-year investment by the Albanese Labor Government has been informed by extensive consultation with women, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, the work of the National Women’s Health Advisory Council, and the findings of two separate Senate inquiries.
Femasy’s products gain UK regulatory approval
Biomedical company Femasys has received UK regulatory approval for three of its products: the FemaSeed Intratubal Insemination device, FemVue for tubal evaluation, and FemCerv for cervical cancer detection.
The Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has given the green light to these devices, which are already approved in the US, Europe, Canada, and Israel.
FemaSeed is a novel approach to artificial insemination, designed to deliver sperm directly to the fallopian tube, which is the natural site of conception. This method is seen as a safe, accessible, and cost-effective first-line option for infertility treatment, offering an alternative to traditional intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
FemVue is an FDA-cleared product for real-time evaluation of the fallopian tubes using ultrasound, employing a natural saline and air contrast. It serves as a companion diagnostic tool, especially relevant for FemaSeed treatments that require at least one open fallopian tube.
FemCerv is the only FDA-cleared device specifically designed to collect a comprehensive and uncontaminated sample for cervical cancer detection in a pain-free office procedure.
Ovum Raises US$1.7M to accelerate AI-powered women’s health
Women’s health company Ovum has raised US$1.7m to advance its AI-powered app to help close the gender data gap.
The app has been designed to help women manage their menstrual cycle and pain conditions related to female health such as endometriosis.
According to reports, the company is aiming to build a women-specific AI dataset to help improve diagnosis and treatments for women.
US$4m for at-home maternal platform
Virtual maternal care company SimpliFed has raised US$4m in funding that will help implement and scale SimpliFed’s care delivery from a point solution to a complete maternal care technology platform with its newly updated mOS (Maternal Health Operating System).
According to the company, SimpliFed’s longitudinal model sees patients through the journey of pregnancy and postpartum time with supportive, consistent touch points centered around baby feeding.
The company will now be growing its care offering to include virtual, high-risk monitoring and mental health screening with attention to high-quality maternal mental healthcare.
Reimbursement for endometriosis saliva test
France-based biotech company Ziwig has announced the fast-track reimbursement of Ziwig Endotest – a saliva diagnostic test for endometriosis – for 25 000 patients across 80 medical centers in France thanks to the recent Innovation Funding decree.
The test is a biological test for practitioners and patients that can improve diagnosis times, detect complex and early stage cases sooner, provide an alternative to invasive procedures;
and, improve fertility preservation through early diagnosis.
CAD$4.1m to support menopause care in Canada
Women’s digital health startup, Coral, has announced the completion of a CAD$4.1m funding round and the launch of its virtual care platform. The funding will enable Coral to deliver integrated, personalised solutions for women navigating perimenopause and menopause in Canada.
Coral’s virtual platform includes detailed, at-home health assessments including blood testing, body composition scan analysis, and in-depth health questionnaires to get a detailed and complete picture of each woman’s health status; personalised care plans that include individualised health guides; and, integrated support that includes preventive team-based medical care, prescriptions, and lifestyle guidance to optimise nutrition, fitness, and mental health.
Daré Bioscience announces funding award
Daré Bioscience has announced it has received a Notice of Award of a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to fund non-clinical activities to support the development of DARE-HPV – an investigational treatment for HPV-related cervical disease.
The NIAID funding award is supplemental to the company’s previous US$10m award and will support non-clinical development activities that are not being conducted under that award.
Daré is eligible to receive up to a total of approximately US$2m in grant funding for its DARE-HPV programme based on the grant application it submitted. A grant in the amount of US$1m has been awarded for the 2025 project year, and another US$1m has been recommended for a subsequent project year, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory progress of the project, as determined by NIAID.

The disciplined advantage: Wellness for modern leadership

By Chaitra Vedullapalli, founder and president, Women in Cloud
Today’s leaders are carrying more than responsibilities.
They are carrying caregiving roles, financial pressures, legal complexities, and the quiet emotional weight of sustaining performance in unpredictable times.
And yet, most leadership forums still focus on productivity, growth, and scale, rarely addressing the human systems that enable sustained leadership.
At Women in Cloud, we believe the next generation of leadership will not be defined by endurance alone, but by discipline, preparation, and self-respect.
That is why we are proud to announce the #WICxWellness Summit 2026: The Disciplined Advantage.
This is a wellness summit focused on leadership preparedness.

Through science, lived experience, and practical frameworks, this summit equips leaders to:
- Anticipate strain instead of reacting to a crisis Design sustainable work rhythms
- Protect cognitive and emotional capital
- Lead from grounded strength
This is leadership infrastructure for the next decade.
